Tom was born in the Bronx, New York City, and studied music from an early age, both privately and in high school and college. He began performing, teaching music privately, composing and recording in 1971 and continues the same at his home studio, in upstate New York, where he resides with his family. Tom is also a lyricist and published poet. He has studied both classical and jazz, and his influences are as many and varied as the original music that he creates. Tom's main instrument is a Steinway, acoustic grand piano, but he also utilizes a Yamaha Keyboard/Synthesizer in his recording studio. Tom records and performs as a piano soloist in traditional and contemporary jazz as well as classical and his own original music. He also composes, performs and records with his trio or quartet that includes an acoustic, upright bass, drums, vocals as well as various other instruments.
